The Method and Terps square off in Championship game

This is it ... the championship game. Where neither of these two teams have every gone before. We have crews working overtime to clear the stands. So you can witness the spectacle that is the FFL Championship game. It’s not exactly the Flint, Michigan Mega-Bowl, but it’s close.

OB’s Method outlasted Rando’s Razors 116-104 in a match-up that was closer than expected. OB trailed going into MNF with one player left. The venerable WR, Steve Smith … you know the one that used to be good from the Carolina Panthers. Well you may not have given him much of a chance … seeing that Carolina was playing the Vikings. But the real Steve Smith posted 22 points on 157 receiving yards and a TD. The Vikings head coach and Bret Favre are having diva issues.

The Jonesville boys managed a win an 82-77 over Jesse despite a weak performance by the Vikings (Peterson 16 points) and the Saints (Brees 11 points). Jesse’s QA, Tony Romo faired better (20 points) in the win. But the teams pacesetter, Chris Johnson had a pedestrian day (by his standards) and posted only 14 points on 104 rushing yards and 0 TDs.

The game line is –1 for the league leader OB’s method. A line befitting of a championship game. OB’s tries to break the Peyton Manning curse and become the first league winner with Manning in their line-up. While the Terrapins try to become yet another worst to first Cinderella story. Stay tuned!

Razors Survive but the Method awaits

Randos Razors survived a pedestrian match-up with Double D in week 14 to advance in the playoffs (99-62). Rando was actually behind going into the Sunday nite game. Then DeSean Jackson went off for 30 and Frank Gore scored 24 on MNF to finish the deal. Now the Razors (8-5) have a tilt with The OB Method (10-3). We don’t think Mr. Jackson will save him this time. OB (favored by 16) starts Peyton Manning (averaging 22.9 points/game) and the Mighty MJD (averaging 16). OB won their only match-up this year 112-92. The matchup- between V.Dub and the Jonesville Terripans will be the real battle this week. The Terps are favored by 8. These two cellar dwellers from last season have risen to the top this year. For V. Dub its been all about Chris Johnson, RB. Johnson is the highest scoring non QB player in fantasy football (averaging 21 per game). Johnson has scored over 30 four times gets the fins in week 15. The Terps Adrian Peterson is not too shabby either (averaging 16.9). The knock on him is consistency. But the Terps compensate with Ray Rice who has come out of nowhere to the 4th ranked RB position averaging 15.5. And of course there’s QB Drew Brees the league leader in fantasy points. In an interesting twist the QBs for both teams play each other on the gridiron Saturday nite. Hold on to your butts … this will be a wild ride.

It’s Playoff time

It's playoff time. Buckle up for the most frustrating and disappointing weeks in Fantasy Football. It’s the worst for those who did not make the playoffs. You start going into FFL withdrawal. It will be 1:30 on Sunday and you have that sudden panic that you did not check your line up … only to realize that (duh) my season is over. Or that pained feeling you get when your would be starter has a killer game. There is a losers bracket. So you can still play for 3 more weeks. However it just doesn’t feel the same.

The playoff rankings; #1 OB’s method (10-3), #2 V.Dub (9-4), #3 Jonesville Terripins (8-5). The 2 wilcard teams are #4 Rando’s Razors (8-5) vs. #5 Double D’s Flyin’ Tigers (7-6).

Yes Dave you made the playoffs with that weak ass record of yours. Had Romos Raiders managed to win you would have been out by virtue of points scored. So stop your whining …. in fact we have a few more choice words for you!Ocho_Cinco_Loves_U

Ocho Cinco

So we can sit back in week 14 and watch the Razors and Tigers duke it out for the honor of getting spanked by the OB Method.

Lucky week #13

It’s lucky week #13. The final week of the regular season and there is still plenty that is undecided.

OB’s Method will make the playoffs, but they have not clinched a 1st round bye. That’s because they faulted in their match-up with Pamela’s Pound Cakes. They didn’t just slip up. They got spanked 92-62. Manning scored a serviceable 23 points, but the rest of OB’s squad was pedestrian. Pamela played a brilliant match-up … Starting the sleeper of the week, Justin Forsett (26 points).

A week #13 loss by OB coupled with a win by the Razors or the Dub and the Method will have to play in the 1st round. It’s all part of the Manning curse. The Colts will be so far ahead they might sit Manning in week #15.

Meanwhile the Razors are in the hunt. They dashed the Tigers' hopes in a 88-64 romp. Rando has vaulted in to a tie for 1st in the division with a 4 game win streak. A win locks up a playoff berth.

The Dub coasted last week to 112-64 win of the Pitbulls. Jesse has been a contender all season. This is not the team you want to play in round 1 of the playoffs.

The Jonesville boys had another monster week. They beat the Slot 126-77. The slots’ hopes for the playoff are on life support. They had a mad game from Bret Favre (33), but Drew Brees went bonkers over the Pats (45). The Terps are a dangerous team, But their roller coaster performances are a question mark. They are at the top in league scoring, but only 7-5.

The Raiders vs the Method is the pivotal game in week #13. Romo (6-6) is on the see saw for post season. A win over OB could set an un-calculable sequence of events in motion.

Thanksgiving Humor

clip_image001

It’s been 10 weeks already?

Well the OB method prevailed in the big match-up between #1 and #2. He beat DD 105-87. Peyton Manning helped ‘em cruise to a victory with another 30+ point game.

Sure you’re happy now OB, but Peyton Manning is cursed in the league. No one has every won this league with Manning. You won’t be the 1st. I can see it now … Manning gets thrashed with 2 picks and a fumble for no TDs on the road in week #14 against divisional rival Jacksonville. Meanwhile, Jesse Romero (V Dub) has been quietly going about his bid-ness. He’s on a 2 game win streak and looking good for a playoff spot at 7-3. Jesse, is there any truth to the rumor that you sleep with a copy of football weekly under your pillow (along with your Playboy)?

V. Dub has a key match-up this week with the Razors (6-4). A loss could drop them back into a tie for the division. Another key matchup is the Jonesville boys (6-4) against “the Method”. They are a slight favorite and anything could happen with them. Who knows which dynamic duo will prevail (Drew Brees & Adrian Peterson) or (Peyton Manning & MJD).

Clear the deck boys. We're coming in for a landing and its gonna be close.

Power Ranking Week #9

A surprising trend in the Power Ranking. It's near impossible to pick a winner from week to week. But despite all the turmoil, the Power Rankings have changed very little since week #4. OB is still King at 7-2 with the most points scored (891) and the Ice Capades are making their 1st tour date in hell next week. RANK TEAM (Previous Ranking)

#1 OB's Method (1)
#2 Double D's Flying Tigers (3)
#3 V Dub (2)
#4 Jonesville Terrapins (4)
#5 Rando's Razors (5)

Welcome to the Thunderdome

Yes, it’s like that in the FFL this year. It’s a post apocalyptic world where midgets control giants and pigmys run amuck. Law and order ceases to exists. There is only one law … Thunderdome Two men enter … one man leaves The Black n Blue Division surprised us by winning the matchup against the Body Bag division (3-2). In a week when no one scored over 100.

In this underworld, OB is King. The OB Method (6-2) skipped over the Pitbulls (1-7) 93-82. They were fueled this week by Jacksonville, RB MJD (30 points). We can’t figure out how he’s doing it. OB has rarely made a playoff appearance in this league. Now he tops the division with a 1 game lead (I think his girlfriend is picking his roster now).

Over in the Body Bag Division, Double D has adeptly played himself to the top. He’s fifth in scoring but is tied with the leagues best record at 6-2. It seems like the luck of the draw. Dave’s QB, Tom Brady is on a bye, but he draws the weaker opponent in the likes of Pamela’s Pound Cakes. Backup QB, Donavan McNabb scores 27 in a rout over the G-Men and the Tigers win 97-80.

But like those slimy kids in the movie, there are a lot of teams that are just hanging around … fighting for scraps. Anyone (well except for Mikey) could run the table and make the playoffs. The world as we once knew it … is over.

5.11.09

Log jam in the Body Bag division

There's a log jam in the Body Bag division, with 2 teams at 5-2 and another just 1 GB. Right now that projects to 3 playoff teams. Its anyone's guess what will happen in the Black & Blue division. OB seems to be in command at 5-2. But his edge comes as much from a low PA average as it does his league leading PF total. The bubble could burst on the Black n Blue division when they all match-up against the Body Baggers. But as luck would have it OB has the weakest opponent.

FFL WEEK 7 SCOREBOARD
Double D's Flyin' Tigers 101 Soul Sonic Force 89
Brooklyn PitBulls 77 Capitol Road Pound Cakes 89
Open (in the) Slot 53 Trooper OB's Method 105
V Dub 113 Romo's Raiders 95
Rando's Razors 116 Jonesville Terrapins 88

Who's Hot and Who's Not in Week #5!

Okay after 5 weeks is time to look at who's Hot and who's been stinkin’ up the joint so far this season.
Hot, Hot, Smokin Hot is Double D's Fyin Tigers on a 4 game win streak. They beat the team that's the most Not Hot ... the 1-4 Brooklyn Pitbulls. DD won the matchup 81-54. He is 4-1 and leads the tough Body Bag division.
Open in the Slot is Hot. After a 0-3 start JD beats the Razors 98-59. He has won 2 straight and posted the weeks high score for the last two weeks. Okay So he tied with the Force for high honors this week. But its still impressive. The Razors not so sharp. They have dropped the last two. Two players in week 5 posted goose eggs(00)!
V Dub is not the hottest … but a 4-1 record is nothing to sneeze at. Jesse has won 2 straight. How cares if you only beat the 1-4 Poundcakes 73-69 last week or 1-4 PItbulls 94-85 the week before.
The Terps are not feelin’ so hot .. droppin’ two straight after an 3-0 start. Especially the week #5 79074 loss to Romo’s Raiders. Both teams are 3-2.
OB we hope whom ever you where with last week was hot while you where losing 98-73 to the Soul Sonic Force. We know you weren’t paying attention to football if you started Oakland RB Darren McFadden … against the Giants … on the road …. and out for two weeks for surgery for his knee. SSF won a game … yawn.

Pamela’s PoundCakes … well you know you’re the hottest baby :)

13.10.09

Week #4 Power Rankings

The last undefeated team falls with the Terps tepid 64-74 loss to the winless Pound Cakes. The season looks very competitive at the 1/3 mark. Two teams in each division are tied at 3-1, with another team 1GB at 2-2. Let's look at the power rankings. #1 Trooper OB's Method (3-1) This is gotta be a first. OB! atop the Power rankings? The power has truly shifted this year. But you gotta give 'em props. He's averaging just under 100 point per match-up and the 1 loss was in a tie breaker. Still it's a wonder how he's doing it. After Manning and MJD the roster looks pedestrian and don't forget the Manning curse.

#2 V Dub (3-1) Jesse got off to a fast 3-1 start, but the line-up's a little shaky. One win over a team with a winning record. He's slotted second (for now) purely based on points scored.

#3 DD's Flyin Tigers (3-1) The Tigers are on a 3 game win streak after a disappointing loss in week #1. Dave has done a masterful job managing what looks like a mediocre roster on the surface. So far Tom Brady is working out for 'em.

#4 Jonesville Terrapins (3-1) Houston, we may have a problem. The Terps are 3-1 but a win in a tie breaker and a loss to the lowly cupcakes doesn't bode well. Depth is a problem. If Brees and Peterson don't score 20 each they have a tough time winning.

#5 Rando's Razors (2-2) Rando's third in scoring(374) and had the 2nd most points scored against (403). So the Razors are contenders in spite of the .500 record.

#6 Open in the Slot (1-3) The Slot has scored as many or more points than 4 of 5 teams in the Black & Blue division. JD finally broke through with a big win in week #4.

#7 Romo's Raiders (2-2) I know the Raiders are 2-2, but they have scored over 80 only once and the combined record of the 2 teams they beat is 2-6.

#8 Brooklyn Pitbulls (1-3) Mikey has lost 3 straight since a week #1 win. Including a tough loss in week #2 despite scoring 106 points.

#9 Soul Sonic Force (1-3) Their only win was over Pamela's Pound Cakes. Simply said ... the Force sucks!

#10 Capitol Road Pound Cakes Nice win over the Terps in week #5 to get off the snide. Do it again against V Dub this week and the season may not be over.

None of the top 4 teams play a team with a winning record in week #5. So the top teams should extend their leads.

Leap of faith

For the moment, lets take a leap of faith and assume that the Terps and V Dub are for real. Both teams are 2-0 to lead their divisions. V Dub had the weeks high score (123) in an impressive win over the Slot who falls to 0-2 in spite of posting a good score of 94 points.
On the other hand, the Terps posted a reasonable score (80), but only managed to win because of a tie breaker (total bench points 47-45). So maybe they're lacking some roster depth after Brees & Peterson. The Razors, Double D and the Force scratch out a victory to pull even at .500. The Pound Cakes are 0-2 and it may not be too early to be calling for life support. Key Match-up in week #3: Dub vs. the Razors could change the leader of the Body Bag division.

24.9.09

They Might be Giants!

Beware out there … they might be Giants … there may be a seismic shift in power in the ole football league. The Jonesville Terrapins have come stormin’ out of the gates in week #1 to post an incredible high score of 137! Could it be true that a cellar dweller for the last 2 seasons like the Terps has morphed in to a fantasy football giant? They were sparked by an out of body experience from Drew Brees with 6 TDs and 49 fantasy points. They were unstoppable when combined with 180 yards and 38 points from Adrian Peterson. The result; Jonesville Terrapins 137.0 @ Soul Sonic Force 66.0 . That was 87 points scored by 2 players! SSF didn’t have a chance.
RANDO'S RAZORS 92.0 @ TROOPER OB'S METHOD 119.0 OB was another cellar dweller with a GIANT effort in week #1. This time it was the Eagles D/ST posting 36 points! No Manning curse for OB this week. But we all know the Eagles can’t post those kinda numbers every week.
Double D's Flyin' Tigers 79.0 @ V Dub 94.0 Former Champ Double D takes one on the chin from the sophomore V Dub … frickin’ Tom Brady did it again with 25 points. But V Dub’s QB Tony Romo responded with 35.
Brooklyn PitBulls 73.0 @ Open (in the) Slot 59.0 Yawn, this one was projected to be low scoring and it was. Oh my … look how low have the mighty fallen.
Romo's Raiders 64.0 @ Capitol Road Pound Cakes 56.0 Okay, now this one was REALLY pathetic. The Rodgers vs Cutler QA battle never materialized. Could it be that all Bears QB’s are prone to INT’s?

16.9.09

Week #1 Starts here

Don't forget the season starts for real on Thursday. Players on the Steelers and Titans will lock at gametime.
You will still be able to add/drop players until Sunday. The league transaction counters will be reset at 1PM ET Sunday. After that you only have 13 free add/drops before you are changed $1. So make all you transactions now.
Let's take a quick season preview. We have 10 teams this year in two divisions(Black n Blue & Body Bag). The draft distributed the talent fairly even. So it should be an interesting season. Double D you should be happy to know there is a tie breaker this year (total bench points).
Rando's Razors (RRAZ) vs Trooper OB's Method (OBM)
The only intra division matchup this week. This the line is Rando -5. So it's basically a pick-em. OB has Peyton Manning. Who we all know is cursed in the league. Rando is a little inexperienced at WR. It's not clear that DeSean Jackson can score on a regular basis and Percy Harvin's a rookie. Should be a close match-up.
Black & Blue Division
Romo's Raiders (RR) vs Capitol Road Pound Cakes (PC)
Pamela takes on the 2008 season champs. The early line has her pounding the Raiders by 19. She's got LT in Oakland and Reggie Bush at home against Detroit. Nice! RBs Westbrook and Jacobs for RR have some tough defenses this week. This one could be decided by the QB play. Green Bay's Rodgers for RR is in Chicago against Jay Cutler for Pamela.
Jonesville Terrapins (JT) vs Soul Sonic Force (SSF)
The quest for more than 3 wins in a season starts here for the Jonesville boys. The early line has them favored by 15. Their roster looks formidable. That is if you ignore the starters from the Kansas City Chiefs. But the SSF roster isn't scaring anyone either.
Body Bag Division
Double D's Flyin' Tigers (DFT) vs V Dub (Dub)
Okay Jesse we give up. What the frick is a V Dub. Double D may have Tom Brady, but his effectiveness is negated by two starters from Detroit. The Dub dude -10.
Brooklyn PitBulls (BPB) vs Open (in the) Slot (JD)
The dogs are a heavy favorite (-19), but this is projected to be the lowest scoring match-up of the week. The Slot's going with a rookie RB, because Pierre Thomas is out this week. He could get a nice bump from the Warner to Fitzgerald QB/WR combo. Looking for an upset here.

Draft Day 2009

Open in the Slot on Draft Day

"Jeez, I hope Tom Brady is still available by the 7th pick!"
