The Force and The Slot are no shows in the Playoffs

It was one and done for both division winners in the playoffs. Maybe they both thought they had another bye this week. Open (in the) Slot got pasted by the Killin' Koytes 80-34! That's right the Big Five division leader could muster only 34 stinkin' points. I guess he had it commin ... waxin' teams all season on the back of 50 point games from Tom Brady. Brady scored only 3 points. Pamela's Koyotes were paced by LT (24).

The Soul Sonic Force did better than 34 points, but still went down to Double D's Flyin' Tigers 85-77. Adrian Peterson gave 'em a valiant effort with 20 on MNF, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Tigers. The Tigers were paced by the Patriots defense (22) who scored more than their QB and the venerable B. West (14) who gave up a TD in the final minutes. I know Double D is happy that didn't cost 'em.

So, the Big Game is all set ... It the Koyotes who have been a powerhouse all season versus the Tigers who backed into the play-offs with the worst record but has shown up when the big lights came on. The Tigers are favored to win it all. But you have to wonder why both teams were active on the waiver wire this week.

Tigers & Pitbulls back into the PlayOffs - Koyotes,The Slot and The Force earn byes

It's PlayOff Time! Win or go home. As an owner you'd like to have your team enter the playoffs on a hot streak, but 3 of the 5 playoff teams ended the regular season with a loss. Double D's Flyin Tigers lost their week 13 match-up with the Force 100-73. But squeaked into the playoffs based on the total point scored tie breaker. The Soul Sonic Force takes the Fab Five division with a 9-4 record.

The Philly Hitmen beat the PitBulls 88-79, but did not score enough to overtake Double D for the last playoff spot (missed it by 37 points). The loss forces the PitBulls to play a week #14 playoff match-up. Much to the delight of the Koyotes who lost their match-up to the Open Slot in a pathetic performance 101-63. Open (in the) Slot had already wrapped up the Big Five division title.

The Razorback completed their season's collapse with a loss to the Terps 99-82 in the battle of the cellar dwellers. OB posted the high score for the week in a 115-75 win over the Raiders in the 'couldn't careless' Gator Bowl.

The early line has the Tigers favored over the Pitbulls in the week #14 match-up.

What do I feel Thankful for in Week 12?

Thanks to all team owners for making this another great Fantasy Football season. The season has been very competitive so far. Two teams are 8-3, two are 7-4 and 3 other teams have a shot at the playoffs. We're looking forward to an exciting playoff season.

Happy Turkey DayKillin' Koyotes (8-3)  I am thankful for LaDainian Tomlinson and my 4 game winning streak (the 3 game win streak was nice too). LT (#2 Ranked RB) got off to a slow start, but he was still worth the #1 pick.

Happy Turkey DayOpen (in the) Slot (7-4) I am thankful I used auto-pick in the draft. Who would have thunk about of picking Tom Brady in the third round (30th pick). Brady (#1 Ranked QB) hasn't scored less than 25 all year.

Happy Turkey DayDouble D's Flyin' Tigers (6-5) I am thankful for Brian Westbrook (#1 Ranked RB), Antonio Gates (#1 Ranked TE), and the New England Patriots (#1 Ranked D/ST).

Happy Turkey DayPhilly Hitmen (5-6)  I am thankful for a 3 game winning streak. I'm also thankful I'm un the Big Five division (4-5 wins in the division). I could make the play-offs with a little luck.

Happy Turkey DaySoul Sonic Force (7-4) I am thankful I got off to a hot 6-0 start. That 4 game losing streak was a bear!  Thank goodness for last weeks 104-88 win over that Open Slot guy.

Happy Turkey DayJonesville Terrapins (3-8) I am thankful I will finish with a better record than Rando's Razorbacks. I'd hate to hear what he'd say after I boasted I'd tear up the league as a rookie.

Happy Turkey DayRomo's Raiders (5-6)  I'm thankful I managed to turn my season around after a 1-5 start. Oh and I guess I'm thankful for TO too (#2 Ranked WR). Especially last week (4 TDs).

Happy Turkey DayOB's Method (4-7) I am thankful Steven Jackson's (RB) back from injury or the season could have been worse. At least I can play spoiler down the stretch.

Happy Turkey DayBrooklyn PitBulls (8-3) I am thankful my teams always play at such a high level. No matter what that player hater league manager says. Once again I am peaking at the right moment and primed to win another league championship. (ah ... Right Mike)

Happy Turkey DayRando's Razorbacks (2-9) I and thankful the season is only 13 weeks long!

The OpenSlot lays an egg without Brady in Week #10

Perhaps the Emperor has no clothes! With a chance to take the lead playoff position the Slot could not overtake the lowly Razorbacks. Hey JD, it's not like you didn't know Brandy had a BYE in week 10. How could that one slip by ya? Damon Huard (-3)? You didn't just underestimate the Razorbacks did ya? Real contenders win late in the season.

RAZORBACKS (2-8) @ SLOT (7-3) Drew Brees scored 18 at QB, but Brett Farve scored 32 on the bench.

Rando's Razorbacks 60
Open (in the) Slot 37

PITBULLS (7-3) @ KOYOTES (7-3) Mikey is peaking on his way to the playoffs. Ben Roethlisberger (33) was huge for the PitBulls. Pamela forgot she had the Bears Defense (17) and started the Buffalo Bills(7)? The Koyotes had to lose sooner or later. Better now than in the playoffs.
Brooklyn PitBulls 79
Killin' Koyotes 68

SONIC FORCE (6-4) @ OB'S METHOD (4-6)  The Force have the league's longest current streak (Lost 4).
Soul Sonic Force  90
OB's Method 93

RAIDERS (4-6) @ FLYIN' TIGERS (6-4) Lets just say DD is not peaking at the moment.
Romo's Raiders           92
Double D's Flyin' Tigers 79

TERRAPINS (3-7) @ HITMEN (4-6)  McNabb (36) comes thru for the Hitmen (no small favors to Brian Westbrook(37). Has the Terps lost thier MOJO?
Jonesville Terrapins 81
Philly Hitmen 100

It's the Fab 5 vs. the Big 5. All teams play an inter-divsion match up in Week 11. It's always nice to win, but an out of division loss ain't so bad. Which Division will have the most wins?

Who's HOT and Who's Not

Records are important in fantasy football, but the team that's hot going into the playoffs is what really counts. Oh and a favorable schedule for your star
players doesn't hurt. Lets look at who's hot and who's not in week #10

HOT,HOT,HOT
1. The Killin' Koyotes (7-2) - PF:914 PA:624 STREAK:W4 | Pamela is ... well
killin' 'em every week now. The Koyotes lead the league in scoring. They took
down the un-stoppable Force in week #8 and posted the weeks high total score for the second time this season. Beating Romo's Raiders 128-90. The difference in the match-up was 30 points from the Lions defense. Come on Pamela ... did you really know the Broncos would cough up 2 defense TD's to the Lions?

2. The Jonesville Terrapins (3-6) - PF:788 PA:872 STREAK:W2 | The Jonesville
boys are peakin' after a slow start. Winners of the last 3 out of 4 match-ups.
The Terps sweated out a 1 point win over the division leading Force 126-125.
They used balance scoring with 5 players in double figures (4 players were +20)
to overcome another monster performance by Adrian Peterson (47) . The RB posted 3 TD's against the Chargers.

3. The Brooklyn PitBulls (6-3) PF:819 PA:660 STREAK:W1 | The PitBulls keep
crusin' along just outside of the spot light. Last week they took down the Big
Five division leader Open Slot 79-60. The PittBulls QB Tony Romo (28) keep pace
with the Slot's star QB Tom Brady (25) who came down a peg from his 35+ performances of recent weeks.

4. Open (in the ) Slot (7-2) - PF:875 PA:715 STREAK:L1 | Okay they lost last
week, but JD hasn't lost too often. Next week is their biggest test yet. Tom
Brady's BYE week. Good thing their next opponent is the Razorbacks (1-8). You
get all the lucky breaks when you're HOT.

5. OB's Method (3-6) - PF: 692 PA:820 STREAK:W1 | OB's is 2-2 in the last 4
match-ups. Last week he posted a W against Double D's Flyin' Tigers 91-79. OB
has reaped the benefits of his smart pick-up of Tampa Bay, RB Earnest Graham
(20). Graham has filled in well after Cadillac Williams went down for the
season.

NOT,NOT, HOT
1. Soul Sonic Force (6-3) - PF:857 PA:800 STREAK:L3 | After a 6-0 start,
SSF's stock has dropped off more than Chad Pennington's arm strength. Once the division leader they where humbled last week by the 2-6 Terps.

2. Rando's Razorback (1-8) - PF:627 PA:949 STREAK:L2 | It no secret the
Razorbacks stink. But leading the league in PA doesn't help. At least they are
not gettin' blown out anymore, since Drew Brees has return to form the last 3
weeks.

3. The HITMEN (3-5) - PF:754 PA:799 STREAK:W1 Last weeks win was
the first since Week#5 for the Hitmen.

4. Romo's Raiders (3-6) - PF:707 PA:834 STREAK:L1 It's been an up and down
season for the Raiders. Mostly down.

5. DD's Flyin' Tigers (6-3) - PF:835 PA: 795 STREAK: L1 | Hey Dave ... you're
last on the NOT HOT list. That's really good you know!

The Open Slot rebounds after loss to post 165

Holy @#$&! Open Slot Batman ... 165 points! The Slot rebounds big after their 1st loss in a battle for the in the Big Five. There were also a couple of firsts this week ... The Sonic Force suffer their 1st loss and the Razorbacks managed their 1st win. Things have become pretty clear half way thru the season. If you're over .500 you b in the playoffs dude!

INTRA-DIVISION
KOYOTES (5-2) @ HITMEN (2-5)
Killin' Koyotes 80
Philly Hitmen 68
After failing to catchup to the Koyotes on MNF, the Hitmen are thinkin' ... Who the hell is Kenton Keith and why the heck is he taking touchdowns from Joesph Addai? The Koyotes make it thru LT's BYE week paced by Wes Welker (26). It's nice to have anybody who plays for the Patriots on your roster.

BIG-FIVE (THE SLOT LEADS BY 1)

FLYIN' TIGERS (5-2) @ SLOT (6-1)
Double D's Flyin' Tigers 71
Open (in the) Slot 165
Did I mention it's nice to have someone from the Patriots on your roster? Especially T. Brady (51) ... five friggin' TD's ! Good job Double D's ... your Tigers missed a golden opportunity to advance in the division. What will you do for an encore ... lose to the Razorback next week?

OB'S METHOD (2-5) @ RAZORBACKS (1-6)
Trooper OB's Method 82
Rando's Razorbacks 88
OB couldn't keep the momentum after last week's big win over Open (in the) Slot. Marvin Harrison (1) could have helped to pull this one out, but the Razorbacks hang on for their 1st win ... yahoo! Harrison's nagging knee injury has to be a concern for OB. I still can't phantom how the Razorbacks won this one.

FAB-FIVE (SONIC FORCE LEADS BY 1)

Romo's Raiders 104
Soul Sonic Force 83
Joe's Raiders get up off the canvas to knock off the Force for the 1st time. LJ (20) had 112 rushing yards and a TD against the Raiders for the Raiders (got that). SSF's only weakness, QB, reared up to bite them this week. With Vince Young out (quad injury) QB Jon Kitna (5) laid an egg. The Force get more bad news with word that star RB, Ronnie Brown goes down for the season. So who do they have for a backup ... crap ... its Frank Gore!

TERRAPINS (1-6) @ PITBULLS (5-2)
Jonesville Terrapins 78
Brooklyn PitBulls 90
The Jonesville boys just didn't have enuff depth to keep up with the dogs. They might of won had they played the other tight end. Heath Miller had 17 while Chris Cooley posted 0. The Pitbulls are just keeping pace 'til the playoffs. They were paced by Bengals RB Kenny Watson (34) and the Giants' D/ST (22). The Giant's get a gift fumble recovery from San Fran's Trent Dilfer. What a stiff.

The week #8 match-up to watch is the SSF (6-1) against the Koyotes (5-2). Pamela could snatch a share of the division leads with a win.

17.10.07

Koyotes spank the Razorbacks with a whopping 164 frickin' points!

There is one good thing for certain when the Koyotes match-up against the Razorbacks during the season. Someone in the Freeman household will be happy and someone won't. The other good thing is it happens only once a year.

INTRA-DIVISION

RAZORBACKS (0-6) @ KOYOTES (4-2)

Rando's Razorbacks 51
Killin' Koyotes 164
The Koyotes scored 13 touchdowns !!! Including another punt return TD from the frickin Bears! LT had 198 YDS and 4TDs for 45 points, QB Palmer (18) 2 TDs, T.J. Houshmandzadeh (27) 2TDs, Wes Welker (25) TD's, and Tony Gonzales (23) 2 TDs. It would probably take the Razorbacks 3 weeks to score as much.

FAB-FIVE (SONIC FORCE LEADS BY 2)

RAIDERS (1-5) @ TERRAPINS (1-5)
Romo's Raiders 84
Jonesville Terrapins 93
The Terps get off the snide! The Jonesville boys get a nice contribution from the Raven D (24). So here's how the Cinderella story plays out; The Terps win the next 6 match-ups but lose to the 0-12 Razorbacks in week #13 to miss the pay-offs by 1 game. The Raiders have issues at QB Kurt Warner was knocked out of last weeks game and a question mark this week. Hmm .. you got problems already if you're starting Warner in the first place. Can you say Tim Rattay?

SONIC FORCE (6-0) @ PITBULLS (4-2)
Soul Sonic Force 95
Brooklyn PitBulls 88
The fource whip the Pitbulls again to retain domonance of the Fab Five division. Some teams have all the luck. They lose QB, Vince Young (0) with a quad injury, but the rookie sensation Adrian Peterson (41) runs for 224 YDS and 3 TDs ... against the Bears. Go figure.

BIG-FIVE (THE SLOT & TIGERS TIED)

SLOT (5-1) @ OB'S METHOD (2-4)
Open (in the) Slot 88
Trooper OB's Method 106
OB wins one for the gipper and takes down the division leading Slot. There's new hope in the Big Five. Despite 44 from Tom "I'm to Sexy to be just a QB" Brady, the rest of the team was pedestrian and the Slot is closed down for the first time. OB gets 24 from Braylon "I wish we could play the Dolphins every week" Edwards and 30 from Maurice Jones-Drew. Okay that's "Mr." Jones-Drew for me. I will no longer dis 'em.

FLYIN' TIGERS (5-1) @ HITMEN (2-4)
Double D's Flyin' Tigers 100
Philly Hitmen 86
The Hitmen needed McNabb to score touchdowns in the red zone this week. Double D has won 2 straight pull into a tie for the division. Congrats! QB Derek Anderson (34) has turned into a reliable starter. I promised not to dis 'em this week ... no promises next week.

Power Rankings Week #5

This Week's Power Rankings

#1 The Soul Sonic Force (5-0) The Force have been impressive so far this season. Knocking of 2 undefeated teams during this campaign. The Force's strength in centered on a strong RB corp of Ronnie Brown, Frank Gore and the surprising rookie Adrain Peterson. Toss in Randy Moss and these guys are tough to beat.

#2 In The Open Slot (5-0) The autodraft all-stars team is kickin' butt. Tom Brady has looked pretty good for the open slot. Brady has 16 TD passes in 5 weeks. The only thing that might stop them is a Patriots BYE (Week#10).

#3 Brooklyn Pitbulls (4-1) Mickey's only loss was to the Force. So we're not talking chop liver here. Both QB's (Romo & Roethlisberger) have been puttin' up good numbers. But Plaxico Burress has been spectacular! Second only to Randy Moss at WR, Burress has been puttin' up numbers despite an ankle injury. The New York post reports he's part of a secret government trans-genetic experiment to cross humans with orangutans.

#4 Double D's Flyin' Tigers (4-1) It all about B. West for the Tigers.

#5 Killin' Koyotes (3-2) LT has had a slow start, but he's beginning to pick it up. To bad the Koyotes' have got nothing else to shout about, except the Bears special teams. Look for them to falter down the stretch.

#6 Romo's Raiders (1-4) Romo's been up against pretty tough competition so far. He may have faired better if Larry (hold-out) Johnson could perform as well as he gets paid.

#7 Philly Hitmen (2-3) The Hitmen haven't made the grade against the top 5 teams. The 2 wins have been against Rando and OB. They have been riddled with injuries, so they might have a shot at the playoffs if they get healthy.

#8 OB's Method (1-4) The method is broken. OB hasn't scored more than 68 in any week. The one win was over the Razorbacks 68-64.

#9 Jonesville Terripins (0-5) Peyton Manning is cursed. Reggie Bush is overrated. The Terripins are 0 and 5. Any questions?

#10 Rando's Razorbacks (0-5) No one is more deserving of last place. Rando scored just 38 in his last match-up. The Razorbacks drafted 3 New Orleans Saints (including Drew Brees). Hoping last year's Cinderella darlings would continue their winning ways. But Cinderella has lost her slipper and the prince has been put off by too many Reggie Bush commercials to find it. The Saints stink and so do the Razorbacks.

The Force whips the dog to lead the Fab 5

Its week 3, three teams remain undefeated while three others remain winless. So separating the wheat from the chaff has become a wee but clear. If you’re sittin’ at 3-0 you might be legit. If you have sunk’n to 0-3 your team just might sux!

A quick scan of the standings shows that the FAB 5 division has the better won/loss records. But the BIG 5, boasting 3 out of the top 4 total point leaders, may be the better division. Here is the week 3 recap.

Fab Five Matchups
The PITBULLS (2-1) drops 1st gbame to The Soul SONIC FORCE (3-0) 87-96 | The Force win the game of the week match-up to take the lead of the Fab 5 division. Randy Moss (24) posted another great week and they didn’t miss the 3 TDs Ronnie Brown (41) scored against the Jets. The Force didn’t start Brown because he is a Jets fan. Go figure week #3 could be Brown’s best outing of the year.

The RAIDERS (1-2) bow down to the KOYOTES (2-1) 59-95 | The Koyotes roll to their 2nd straight win. LT (15) rebounded from last weeks trashing in New England. But he has yet to have break-out game the Koyotes’ are waiting for. The slumping Raiders are suffering form the St. Louis blues. QB Marc Bulger scored -2 points.

Intra-Division Match-up
THE FLYIN' TIGERS (3-0) SOAR over the TERRAPINS (0-3) 120-84 | Madd props to Double D. B. West (42) was the difference in this match-up. The Terps were paced by Peyton Manning (16). We’re still waiting to be impressed by the Jonesville boys.

Big Five Matchups

OB'S METHOD (0-3) falls to the OPEN SLOT (3-0) 107-113 | Tough luck for OB. He posts 107 points, but losses the match up and his starting RB Steven Jackson (13). The Slot continues to amaze us from the auto draft position. Starting Marion Barber (24) against the Bears was an astute play.

The RAZORBACKS (0-3) tanks to the HITMEN (1-2) 56-127 | Rando’s 0-3 record is no fluke. The Razorbacks stink. Lucky for them Drew Brees (-1) has a bye next week. The Hitmen busted their 0-2 slump with the week’s high total score. Craig got MONSTER games from McNabb (38), Addai (20), and Anquan Boldin (31).

Week #4 Game of the Week: Double D’s Flyin Tigers try to shutdown the Open Slot for the lead of the Big 5 division in a battle of 3-0 teams.

20.9.07

Week #2 Winners and Whiners

It's only week #2. Too early to separate the contenders from the pretenders. But if the scoring differentials continue as the have the first two weeks there will be a lotta close match-ups. Last year's champion was only 8-5 in the regular season. So all those teams at 0-2 can cheer up. It's not over yet.

Week two match-ups were dominated by the scoring in a few high scoring shootouts. Anybody with a piece of the Browns 51-41 win over the Bengals where happy. Well maybe Double D would have liked to have started Jamal Lewis in that match-up, but who's to say that Deuce McAllister wasn't the better start after their week #1 performances.

THE SOUL SONIC FORCE OUTLASTS THE RAIDERS  107-100 In the only match-up between unbeaten teams the Force prevails on the strength of Frank Gore (20) and Randy Moss (23). These guys could be scary if Moss continues at this pace (48 point in 2 weeks). Romo's Raiders got everything you could ask for from the Edge (21) and TO (15). Normally you would win most match-ups if you're over the century mark. But this week you needed to score over 100 just to be in the match-up!

THE OPEN SLOT (2-0) SQUEAKS PAST THE RAZORBACKS (0-2) 97-94 The Slot wins by the slimmest of margins based on the results on the Eagles collapse on Monday Nite Football. The Slot lead by 10 going into MNF with WR Jason Avant yet to play. The Razorbacks had the Eagles kicker, David Akers in the game. Normally you would not expect a kicker to have a snow balls chance in hell of outscoring a WR by 11, but this was Philly baby. The kicker scored all of Philly's points (12), but Avant squeaked out 5 points on 55 receiving yards. The new guy is 2-0.

PITBULLS (2-0) @ TERRAPINS (0-2) 103-83 The other new owner has not faired as well. The Terps got manhandled by big Mike's Pitbulls. They are still trying to figure what's wrong with Reggie Bush and the Saints. The Pitbulls had two players in the Browns/Bengals donnybrook, Rudi Johnson (19) and Kellen Winslow.

OB'S METHOD (0-2) @ KOYOTES (1-1) 62-117
As predicted the Koyotes bounced back from a close week #1 loss to win big. They were the biggest benefactor of the Brown/Bengals game. Their 2 players in the game outscored OB's entire team (Palmer had 50 and Houshmandzadeh 18). Throw in the Bears D (21) and the Koyte's are a formidable team. So it begs the question raised during the draft ... when did Maurice Jones-Drew become an all star back anyway?

HITMEN (0-2) @ DDS FLYIN' TIGERS (2-0) 108-129 Double D has made a strong move to the front of the pack. Posting the week's high score without playing Jamal Lewis (28). The Tigers adeptly played the Delhomme (30) to Smith (34) connection. Tough luck for the Hitmen who had the 3rd best score of the week and lost!

Week #3 Game of the week is the 2-0 Pitbulls vs the 2-0 Soul Sonic Force. The early line has the force winning by 12.

11.9.07

Week One Power Rankings

Lets have a little fun with the Power Rankings in week #1. The match-up this week were dominated by two games; either you were a winner or loser in the Colts vs Saints game or you had somebody in the wacky Cowboys vs Giants sunday nite match-up. So here's how I see it.

#1 Brooklyn PitBulls - We'll give you the top spot for now! Posting 133 points and trashing the Razorbacks was impressive. The line on the game was PitBulls +29 (remember that next time you see the line). But you're a little weak at QB. Tony Romo doesn't play the Giants every week.

#2 the Open Slot - Not bad for a team picked on auto pilot. The starters are solid, but wide receiver could be a problem. Laveranues Coles aint puttin' up many points with backup QB Kellen Clemens. Not that Chad Pennington is much of an upgrade.

#3 Killin' Koyotes - Yea, they lost in week #1, but they have LT.

#4 Romo's Raiders - The Raiders left more than 60 points on the bench this week. Somebody should be making them a trade offer.

#5 The Flyin' Tigers - Did you see that epic Monday Nite Football battle between Double D's two QB's Alex Smith & Matt Leinhart? Neither did anyone else.

#6 The Soul Sonic Force - Yo, dude ... Vince Young and Jon Kitna at QB?

#7 Jonesville Terrapins - Rookie. Peyton Manning is cursed. No team with Manning has every won this league!

#8 Philly Hitmen - To be honest the Hitmen are only a decent running back away from respectability. They might be ripe for a trade.

#9 Rando's Razorbacks - Drew Brees can't stink every week ... can he?

#10 Trooper OB's Method - Somebody has to be last.

Sometimes it a pain to be the commissioner

Sometimes its a pain to be the commissioner. Oh sure it looks glamorous at times, but I assure you its hard work. I would like to be like the guy on the Fantasy Football commercial that could offer valet parking for the season. Maybe that would help get team owner on board early. As is the norm, we were scramblin' for owners at the last minute. Only a few people responded to my earlier e-mails. So I just set the draft date on Saturday like we did last year. That's the best day to do a draft since the NFL started the Thursday nite kick-off game. We used to be able to do the draft the week following labor day. Now it has to be labor day week-ends. All those lame pre-season games will be over and teams will have made the cuts by then.

Chet Jets and brownies Sand Bagger are out. So we got two new owners this year and a field of ten. Etim Edim is the spouse of Pamela's cousin and Jim Daly is a friend of Double D's. Welcome rookie owners.

The draft went smooth. The open slot was on auto draft. So thing went quickly. After a few round you could pretty much predict what auto draft would do. I think we did the whole thing in an hour.

So we are ready. Good luck to everyone. Hope I win again this year.
